The day is exactly 12 hours long, with sunrise at around 6.30 am and sunset at 6.30 pm, when it gets pitch dark very quickly, within 30 minutes. People use the sun and weather as a clock to know when and how to work or when to give medicine to the sick. Uganda’s tropical climate greatly benefits its agriculture, with distinct rainy and dry seasons. The average temperature the whole year round is 25C with short tropical rains.
Uganda has many sugar plantations, makes sugar in two large well-known sugar factories and exports sugar to other countries. Other fresh and common fruits are pineapples, mangoes, avocados, watermelon, passion fruits, green oranges and lemons, limes, bananas, etc. Common vegetable crops are tomatoes, egg plants, potatoes, sweet potatoes, garlic, red onions, green peppers, carrots, various type of greens.
Uganda grows rice, maize, millet, beans, peas and other crops.
