Project that has come with lots of love and care to Mutai Village in Uganda to bring hope and full-filling life to orphaned and neglected children as well as high quality education in which we are also welcoming children from families in desperate social and financial situation.
Our main focus in education is to inspire children through science and practical programs such yoga, sport, dance and music, art and drama.
One World Orphanage & Education is inspired by sunshine and happiness that we can bring all together to a child.
Because 85% of this project has been established via volunteering, all committed people have put 101% of their energy and care to make a high quality schooling and a child friendly home. Our Whisper Flower decorates the home as well as children's uniforms. This is a constant reminder that there is a hope and chance for a happy future.
Whisper would like to make a humble congratulation to extremely hardworking people who worked days and nights to make the ever lasting sunny home full of constant smiles happen!!
We have nine children and aiming to get up to forteen by the end of October 2011.
Yes. Our Nursery School at One World Orphanage is opened to those children who have parents, but they are unable to provide basic needs. Children from such families often starve, their health is very poor and they have never been to school. Those children attending our school are given a morning breakfast (7.30), late breakfast (10.30), lunch (13:00), and an afternoon snack (15:00). We provide children with free uniforms, clothing, schooling material and medication.
It is very hard to help everybody, so we decided to concentrate on those children who cannot be helped themselves, and others are not wanting/willing to help either. Such children are not brought to the orphanage door, but they are left to suffer in the villages far from the main roads.
Our Whisper Out reach team are doing regular visits to such villages talking to the local pastors and councillors who often direct them to the right people and families, followed by extensive research.
Our priority is to save lives. African villages are full of poor children and they all deserve a chance (viz question: You must see heartbreaking things during your out reach work. Do you provide any other help?), however the selection process to the One World Orphanage depends on the child's physical and mental health, living conditions, parental duties and age. First factor we consider is neglection. Neglected children may be dying or severely sick, lacking nutrucions, hygiene and love. Children who are generally clean and apperaing healthy, may be orphaned but have their extended family taking care of them (washing them, giving them food) are not considered.
Whisper will help children with the highest education possible. Children will continue their studies in one of the best boarding schools in the country.
Yes. Whisper is concentrating on live improvements of extended families and a background where our Whisper Child comes from. It starts from understanding basic principles of life, family planning and often ends with giving them an opportunity to a brighter future (employment/occasional jobs/betterment of living conditions)
Children's day start at 6am. Before their breakfast, they all bath and are put in the uniforms. By 7.30 the breakfast is served, followed by education from 8am to 3pm. After school they work on their homework in the class and play outside in the garden. They also attend a church on each Sunday.
Whisper also works on different activities involving music and sport.
Our garden is full of local seasonal and fresh food. For breakfast we give children meiz, millet or rise porradge made with fresh milk from a cow which was milked the same morning. We top it with fruits, honey, chocolate powder or cinnamon. For their late breakfast they get milk, fruits, vegitable, fruit smoothies and ocassionally some sweet cake. Lunch and dinner is usually posho, rice, sweet potatos and selection of beans, vegitable and greens. All meals contain fresh vegitable on the side.
One World Orphanage and Education is finenced from regular donations as small as £15 a month. Any other project improvements and new development is financed through one off donations such fundraising events
Yes. We do assist children who are not eligible to live and study at our orphanage for their age (children over eight years old). They may be siblings of the younger children who eligible are. We also assist with medical and tranpsort expenses for severly sick children who can be only treated in speciliazed clinics. Such children are often stopped from visiting their school for their illness.
