Fundraising with Whisper
Sponsored events and challenges
In 2023 we had swimmers in the Swim Serpentine 2023 event. We've also had runners in the London Marathon, the Royal Parks Half Marathon and the London Santa Run. We can provide individual attention and practical help with fundraising.
Or perhaps you prefer to arrange your own activity? Some of our supporters have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Whisper. If you do climb Mount Kilimanjaro and you have time, come and visit us in Uganda!

Whisper is registered with several platforms for fundraisers:
- JustGiving
- GoldenGiving
- GlobalGiving (Choose one of Whisper's projects, then go down the project page to the "Start a fundraiser" button)
Other fundraising ideas
We have experience of various kinds of fundraising; feel free to contact us to discuss your ideas and we'll help where we can. Here are some suggestions:
- livestreaming on YouTube, Facebook or Twitch, with chat windows and other features. Host online parties, or maybe even livestream from a phone while taking part in a sponsored event! See our page on livestream fundraising.
- collections in the street, at railway stations or London tube stations. You need official permission for these, and we can arrange this. Usually we have to apply at least a month in advance. We can supply contactless payment terminals, collection buckets and T shirts.
- foreign currency collections at work. It's amazing what people bring in! We can sometimes collect the foreign currency directly from you, or you can send it to the wonderful people at Leftover Currency who will add 5% to your donation. Leftover Currency may be able to refund your postage or arrange a courier if you contact them before you send the money to them.

- car boot sales
- asking for donations for your birthday / Christmas gifts / graduation / wedding
- fundraising dinners and other parties. Let us know if you want a speaker from Whisper; if we can't attend in person, maybe we can via Skype!
- handmade products (knitting, crocheting, crafts). In the early days of Whisper, Veronika sold handmade socks on a market stall.
- baking
- putting a contactless payment terminal or a collection box in a shop or other public place
Selling things on Ebay
If you're a regular Ebayer, Ebay makes it easy for you to give a percentage of your sale to Whisper. Gift Aid, if relevant, can be added to the donation.
